On foreign policy there is no longer any evidence of long term thinking -- and you reflect that in your remarks. Foreign policy requires more than bandaids. We need to know where we want to go -- and right now there is a growing sense that we have plunged in the wrong direction. If you are lost in the woods you do not say "I have no need of a map of the area, I am only interested in the next step". But if you have no idea of where you are or where you want to go, then that next step is just aimless wandering -- you need that map. That is what we should discuss here -- our foreign policy map.
