Lets start with this lovely one: <Defeat al-Qaida and its supporters and ensure that no terrorist safe haven exists in Iraq.> That is not a plan. That is like me saying that my plan is to get a date with a famous actress -- that is not a plan, it is a day dream -- a goal at best and pure wishful thinking at worst.

We all know that a goal of the US would is to see al-Qaida defeated. You have a plan when you have a realistic path to get there. Nothing in what you posted maps how we will achieve that goal. My goal is to end world hunger, usher in an era of world people, end all human suffering and leave a beautiful world for my children to live in -- but nobody in their right mind would call that a plan. Plans deal with how you are going to reach goals. Your post is a reminder that instead of a plan, we are guided by wishful thinking.
