Here is the advice (for the benefit of the younger people on this thread) given to me by my SCOTTISH UNCLE, tightwad that he was (gg) when I was young. PAY YOURSELF FIRST, save 10% of your GROSS from day one, put it in the bank or whatever BEFORE you even start with your bills (ie payroll deduction program or something like that). He always said, WHATS THE PURPOSE OF WORKING if you dont PAY YOURSELF. If people would do that from the day they begin their career EVERYONE could retire comfortably. Believe me, by foregoing a few of lifes pleasures up front you will live a much happier life in the end. I followed his advice TO A T. The other advice is MARRY A GOOD WOMAN. How to find a good woman, dont even look at her, look at HER PARENTS. If they are good, she will be good. My first wife was A DISASTER, as was her family. My second and current wife is exactly the OPPOSITE. She works hard, shops carefully and except for an unnatural desire for expensive purses (gg) is relatively thrifty. Life is now A BOWL OF CHERRIES. jdn
