Andrew, KLP, about Buddy and Mr. B, and other things;

Couple years back I had to put down Shlep, a (mostly) border collie, one of the finest dogs I'd ever been associated with. Not for the first time my heart was broken.

Recently, while fooling around on craigslist I punched in dogs and arranged a blind date. Now I'm sleeping with Baron, an Australian Shepherd.

The Shlepster, and O.D., and Paya, and Muttsie, and Snoopie, and Suzie, will never be replaced. If the universe is run right, maybe bye and bye we'll be reunited.

Now, as to gifts for the Mum, prolly in the late 40's, I bought some perfume as a September BD gift for mine. The gallonage was probably under half a and the monetary denominations involved in the purchase may have been as high as a quarter. In December of that year my class made Christmas candles. My Mum's sacrificial nature was such that she donated the remnants of my gift to scent the candle production of the entire class.

You are much too kind, sir....I had to look up your Basenji...I thought this was what they looked like, but wasn't sure....They are so sleek and beautiful...noble looking, aren't they? I LOVE (most) doggies....They give you so much, almost never sass you back, (although one of our little Paps does ....she is trying to work on her manners however....) and just give you love without conditions...

And you know, it's a funny thing about gifts....It doesn't always take money to please, does it? We went to the East Coast a few weeks ago for 2 1/2 weeks, had a wonderful time, visited 6 States, and did spend most of the time in Maine. Lupin is EVERYWHERE, and I wanted to take some pictures of it.

Usually, when I HAVE to do something, he grumbles a bit, but the vacation must have mellowed him perfectly, because I just mentioned it, and next thing I knew he found a side road that was perfect. Had the big rocks in the field like Maine has, trees around, and a big field of Lupin.....Got some great pics, including one with a yellow butterfly that had landed on one of the flowers. I couldn't believe how well the picture turned out. But my favorite one is a picture of him in the car waiting for me to get the pics... I took that picture, so I could show him what patience looks like.... Think I'll frame it and give it to him....<ggg>
