Florida has 65,000 lawyers, they all retire down here and hang out their shingles.

Getting "hometowned" is said to be very common in Florida, even if you are from Florida, but from a different part of the state.

I do not believe that "hometowning" is common in Florida, in any way, shape or form, it is a myth, but for those who do believe in it:

hometowned
adv. legalese for a lawyer or client suffering discrimination by a local judge who seems to favor local parties and/or attorneys over those from out of town.

If one believed in such things, then taking it with grace will get you a lot farther than asking the judge to recuse him/herself, as judges tend to eat lunch with each other.
