voting typically happens along party lines. She got a lot because some folks decided to discard the party preference. I do not know how many folks voted - I do know that the average John Doe in India does not vote for this - its a vote by Members of Parliament at a state and national level. Dismiss Parliament and declare war, are 2 powerful roles. Not many understand that. The Indian Constitution has the notion of declaring "Presidents Rule" in a state - effectively the State govt is dismantled and it gets administered under authority from the President. "Presidents Rule" can also be declared nationwide. when u add all these up, its hardly a ceremonial role.
