I'm interested in his use of the word "deserves": I wasn't trying to advance the notion that all Americans deserve that right, only to point out yet another example of political hyperbole in the claim that Richardson asserted that the right already exists. I imagine that Richardson thinks that that right should be established. Many on the left think that that right already exists. If what they mean is taxpayer-provided universal health care, then I disagree.
