I really believe they were covering for the Tillman family's benefit. What is going on now is for Henry Waxman's benefit. He is holding hearings on it. He doesn't give a damn about Tillman, or anybody in the Military. He just wants Bush's blood.

I really believe they were covering for the Tillman family's benefit. One of the problems with doing something iffy for someone else's benefit is that the recipient might have a different idea of his best interest. I recall the family being upset over the lie, preferring to hear the truth. Had the family valued the attempt to hide the truth, things would probably have proceeded differently.
