I think LIG is a flaming egomaniac but there's actually some truth to what he said -- the techies are escaping a lot of this carnage based upon a perception that their limited debt structures make them somewhat immune from current credit issues.

Another reason is that many of the big techies are corporate rather than consumer-spending oriented (e.g. CSCO), and BRIC spending on IT is about to ramp up. Some say that it's going to ramp up a LOT.

Also, the liquidity crunch stateside is going to limit new IPOs, which should serve to hold down the available float of tech shares available for investment.

The market was due for a leadership change from the financials, and the 4-letter critters are probably going to be it -- go back and look at those P&F charts I posted this morning, that's what they're showing too
