We remove and put new networks every time technology brings a better solution.

Infrastructure is not affected by technology and the governments that overlook them do not implode and build new ones in replacement.

Wealth is transferred from generation to generation. So that the next generation is richer than the previous one.

By the way that why demographic window make countries rich, since there is a surplus the parents leave to the less number of children.

The US has been richer because the new generations could enjoy the infra built by the previous ones. This stock of capital needs replenishment.

That's why the US aging infrastructure slows the US down as I put in my previous posting.

Now this generation has to invest in renovation of this infrastructure. Perhaps doing a New Deal kind of program.
