Radical Islamism is a rising tide in the Muslim world, Bearcat. Those who are desperate not to confront it will be accordingly desperate to find some way to find a way to live with it.

I think most people outside the "Muslim world" would prefer to let radical Islam be the cancer it is in that region of the world, and let the people of that region fight against it themselves while we go on making smaller semiconductors, going to see the Simpsons new movie and having chili cook offs. If radical Islam wins against moderate Islam, that country is rapidly going to be reduced to (even more of) a basket case on the global economy, and fade in significance. Such a result, which can happen entirely inside the Muslim world, will make the appeal of radical Islam less and less and less, and over time cause it to burn itself out. Muslims will weigh be really really really pious, and living in a shack with 12 relatives, or being just reasonably pious, and living in a one bedroom apartment with 6 relatives, and choose the latter.

Regardless, outsiders are not going to be a cure for radical Islam in the Middle East any more than Saudi Wahhabists are going to reduce the teen black unwed mother rate in the US....

"The mainline Dems aren't there yet "

Do mainline Dems determine who wins the Dem primaries?
