I have had the most amazing last two days financially. The new house we bought has had some issues that weren't disclosed since the day we took over. Since the folks were all but bankrupt I have found little reason to sue them in small claims to just end up being another judgement against them that doesn't get paid.

Well at any rate the roof is flat on the second story and the gutters were not draining so I call a guy recommended by another friend who showed up yesterday and spent a bit over 2 hours clearing these downspouts and cleaning the debris from the roof. Then he spends an hour cleaning up the mess on the ground and hauling that away and then shows up at the door with the bill. For 65 dollars. I said huh? He said well is that too much? I said of course not here is 100 and keep the change. Unreal.

But he also said you have some issues with the rubber roof I would get someone up there to look at that. So I call a roofer who climbed on the roof and said you have 30' of roof pulled away and it's really quite a mess. He said it was done by some amateurs on a weekend I'm sure and it wasn't done right. I can probably fix it up but you will have the same problem in 5 years what do you want me to do. I said give me a quote to fix it and give me a price to tear it off and do it right. So he just called me back. He said well to tear it all off and do it correctly so that you will never deal with this again in your lifetime will cost eleven seventy-nine. I said 11 thousand? He said no eleven seventy-nine. I said one thousand, one hundred and seventy nine dollars? He said yes. I said tear off, fix everything, new one piece roof and metal edging done right. He said yes. I said that is incredible. He said is that too much? I said considering I thought 6K minimum I guess no would be the correct answer.

Totally unreal. And this outfit has been in business for 25 years and does huge commercial work for their living and come highly recommended by all who have dealt with them. I guess it pays to be a supplier to contractors who can point me at the right people to take care of these little issues:)
