They are no more threat than, say, Israel or Saudi Arabia. They've ALREADY displayed that by their attempts to undermine the sovereignty of Lebanon, via their Hizballah proxies, and attempting to create a state within a state. Hizbo was a state within a state in Lebanon, since the Israeli invasion of Lebanon in 1982. You got to wonder what is the motive of the US and the rest of the world caring now, if not to drum public opinion for a war. They are threat to Iraqis sovereignty, and especially the Shi'a Arab community, as they attempt to assert their own religious authority over the Ayatollahs in Karbala and Najaf. I do not believe so, Iraqis are nationalist and they are taking advantage of the Iranians to fight the Americans. You have realize that the American foreign policies are not liked in that part of the world. So no matter how good are the intentions of the US, it is look upon with extreme suspicion, with good reasons. Thus, by posing a threat to American interests in the region, they pose a threat to the US. What are the American interests in Iraq? Ask yourself what right they, or their Syrian allies, have in supporting the dissolution of Lebanon? What right do they have to perpetrate their war of aggression upon Israel via Hizbullah? They have no right, the same goes to the US in the region. Do you really believe that what is happening in the region is an Iranian script? The dealingss and wheeling in the region amongst the parties and the superpowers are at the expense of Lebanon and the Lebanese people.I'm not in favor of an Iranian invasion, or attack. I'm in favor of directly addressing the Iranian people by bypassing traditional diplomatic channels. And our message should be that we seek for them to achieve their rightful place in the community of nations (and regionally), but PEACEFULLY. Our message should be the same we sent to the Russians. We're not the enemy of the people, but of their government and that we stand ready to provide them the political and economic support to assert the rights of the majority over the tyranny of the minority. That is one of many good approaches. And with regard to what will happen in Iran, ask yourself what has happened to the Iranian people living in exile for 28 years of oppression and tyranny under the current regime. Of course, there are lots people that suffered when the regime changed back than, and lot people found relief. The Iranian regime came a long way since inception.Ask the parents of all of those Iranian children who were sent to the Iraqi front to serve as human mine detectors by their current President (who was a major leader in charge of the Basiji during the Iran-Iraq war). Now, now Hawk, if the US did want a war with Iran, Saddam would have not planted those made in USA mines. However, it does not make it right.
