Post of the day! Threaders failed to realise that there's a lot of fat this country can shed and still be able to function.

This what you clearly explained the return to natural size. And we didn;lt touch "defense" budget!

But even defense can be spared if enough saber rattling is done and rich countries such as the GCC buy USD20bn of weapons to "fight" Iran.

USD 44,000 income

USD 10,000 taxes, one way or another
USD 24,000 mortgage, insurance, repairs, etc
USD 7,200 for 2 cars' payments and maintenance
USD 4,800 for basic food
------------------------------
USD 46,000

Deficit of USD 2,000, before education, clothing, trade war premium, real war negative, homeland defense waste, and non-essentials such as medical and dental

At HKD gasoline rate of USD 8 to the gal, an 1 hour each way commute in a pickup truck would come to ... whatever and a lot,

Recommendation: sell suburb, buy city center

"The capacity for savings in the US is enormous..."

I think this may be questionable.

There is a widespread lack of recognition on how severe the damage to the earning and saving capacity of the average American has been as a result of the reverse Robin Hood policies of this administration.

There are more Americans living hand to mouth now than at any time since the last great depression.
