Are there any Muslim women that go down to the beach, shrug off their burkha to reveal a string bikini?

An ethos of tolerance has prevailed, with churches, bars and miniskirts co-existing with burqas.

That's why we love it!

But there are a whole bunch of people who are offended by it. How do you reconcile the differences?

Simple, you're mistaken. If enough people were offended by it, it wouldn't exist. The trend here has been toward acceptance of various non-traditional behaviour, not away from it. The idea that a Muslim should be offended by a bar in a hotel (where he doesn't hang out) is pretty silly, don't you think? The only reason bars don't exist in certain other Muslim countries is because the government of the respective country has made them illegal, not because of popular calls against bars.

Actually, I was talking about this country. Ten was telling you he didn't think women should wear thongs or two piece bathing suits because they show to much skin. Other American religious types believe bars should be shut down; that people should not cohabitate without the sanctity of marriage; that sex should consist of only 'normal' intercourse........and nothing else, etc. In this country, they have gained considerable power; so much so that we are at loggerheads.

So again, I ask.......how do you reconcile the two sides? Just curious as to what you think.
