Yes, Bush proposed your own account in your name and your family would get it if you died before you were eligible to collect it.

I did scream for privatization. The politicians get their power from the taxes they confiscate and redistribute.

Lets change the voting rules back to the beginnings of our country. Instead of landowners were the only ones that could vote, have only people that pay taxes get to vote and their vote is worth an amount relative to what they pay in taxes.

The thought was to fashion the "new" Social Security system along the lines of the federal employees' Thrift Savings Plan.
A very safe and successfull plan with very low management fees. I contributed to it since around 1989 until I retired last year.

The Dems threw a hissy fit at the very notion of changing the current SS system to privitized individual ownership of one's retirement account.

Not surprizing, because if each citizen had ownership of their own retirement account, the Dems couldn't give SS money away to those who never contributed a dime.
