When I was in that was one of the selling points of the USMC. We were VOLUNTEERS not DRAFTEES.

The last draftee was inducted in November 1973. The last draftee was discharged the day before Thanksgiving 1975. I was company commander of my second company then and remember the date well. And I used similar verbiage to pump up my troops.

But I knew in my heart without the draft we never had a chance to win WWII.

The USMC accepted draftees in that general time frame. though I cannot give specific dates of the last.

I can say with confidence that this war has similar potential to explode over several continents.
