me: I believe that the citizens of the United States have a fundamental right to life and to do everything they can to save their lives. As long as this action does not negate someone elses right to stay alive.

you: Do you believe that is a constitutional right?

smee again:

life is a self evident right that does not come from the government.

The right exists even when the government does not recognize the right.

When a government fails to respect that right, the people have a right to change or eliminate the the violating government.

The founding fathers thought this was a fundamental right.

They thought it was a right that was worth killing the representatives of the existing government over.
