We both know how interpretation of scripture can be corrupted for self serving purposes. So I'm certain you can argue in many ways to the counter of the no coercion standard. The fact is, it is not only forbidden, it is impossible to force belief. It may be possible to force people to accept a doctrinal way of life but beliefs are quite different. Obviously large regions of the world have been conquered or colonized and forced to learn and abide by one doctrinal way of life or another. I doubt more than 2% of the adherents to any religion truly believe in the faith based sense. I am equally sure those 2% from various backgrounds would have no problem accepting and loving each other. IMO It is fine with me if you want to find corrupt and brutal individuals or groups from history or in modern times who violate such doctrines and expose them for what they are. However, when you begin to champion the heinously corrupt extremism as valid interpretations of religion, you set yourself up as an authority on the religion and as a spokesperson for people from those religions. If you are willing to do that fine, but in my view, you have become what you condemn. I know for a fact you are not such a spokesperson for the vast majority of Muslims. I know there are some who advocate forceful submission to religion but I've never personally met one and I get around. I'll give you the last word. You seem to want to have a religious discussion (I don't) about why everyone should drop their wrong religious ideas and accept your superior views, which is in your view the correct version of Christianity. Or if Islam could just be like Christianity, you could accept it. Ok too, most members of a religious group are indoctrinated to that point of view. Hint, if you traffic in other than Anti-Islam extremist circles, you might find there is little difference except on the surface appearances. Best Regards, Gem
