Yes, that was so true. The only thing I'd add there is that most of America and Canada were by todays standards, poor. There were very few really rich people. And fewer "middle class" at least again, by todays standards.

The "poor" in those years lived on farms, raised most of their own food, went to town once a week or so, and sold some of the produce or eggs they grew on their farm for a little spending money. There was no such thing as welfare, except possibly from local churches.

It was just amazing that Doc Dafoe saved the quints. And without all the expensive, fancy, up to the newest, latest, greatest equipment.

I wonder if that could happen today in the same circumstances.
