John,

How many people take advantage; seems like a no-brainer.

Not too many, unfortunately - or should I say fortunately, from the point of view of New York taxpayer? It's a double whammy for the taxpayer, because electricity bills (and various government taxes and fees) are a source of revenue. Once people start taking advantage of the subsidies, it will be not only a siginificant expense, but also a loss of revenue.

And that;s while there is an 820 MW (easily upgraded to 1 GW) nuclear plant sitting idle, paid by the taxpayers as well.

Don't get me wrong, I am all for solar power, but I think there should be some balance and reason here.

BTW, I looked at some of the numbers because a friend of mine was thinking about going into this business. The current state of the mortgage market and home equity loans is a big disincentive.
