I think we were on that hwy back in '74 when we took a car ('73 VW bug) trip from Colo to Seattle to visit family. We ended up taking a little road down to the river to see if we could find a place to take a swim. It was early Aug and very hot. Lo and behold, we ended up in a wonderful Peach orchard, and the peaches were ripe. We decided we just had to take a few with us, so found an old grocery bag........they were all paper back then..........and filled it up, then took off really fast.

We didn't go swimming, but we sure did enjoy those peaches. They made the best cobbler.

I think we turned north at Pendleton and proceeded on to Seattle. It seemed like every hwy we drove on on that trip was beautiful. The west is so scenic........especially when you get off of the main hyws.
