Thanks for your answer. I was thinking in the same line of dividend yield versus appreciation in other stocks. But in turmoil days ahead, we are uncertain about the direction of the market. One bird in hand or ...

Normally I will not let tax consequences weigh too much in my decision on whether to sell. Loss of confidence in management sure will, and I have lost quite a bit in QCOM (I have held most of my shares since 1992). I am not selling yet but the thought crosses my mind frequently.

Taking LT gains at 20% is probably the best rate we will see for a while. I would hate to see another "retro-active" tax increase after the Presidential election.
