You know this bank event reminds me of the banks wanting protection on credit card debt for personal bankruptcy. It's like your lending practices suck, likely caused dumb people to become bankrupt and now you want protection. I mean that is unreal. How about this, be responsible with your lending practices and you won't have these problems.

The fed is partly to blame however. Many of these sub standard loans were made to minorities in the inner city to buy their homes under federal mandate. Good lending practices kept them from home ownership and now the bad practices will result in their losing their homes to foreclosure. So I imagine there will be much gnashing of the teeth and hand wringing about throwing the poor people out of their homes and onto the streets and the government will come running to bail them and their lenders out.
