I have the family tree on my fathers side all the way back to the Revolutionary war. Its true, white women were scarce on the frontier and to make it worse, they usually died young, was not unusual for a man to go through 3-4 wifes in a lifetime. Anyhow, lot of WEIRD stuff in there. Lots of INDIAN BLOOD and sad to say FIRST COUSINS. So, it doesnt surprise me in the least that many have black ancestory. jdn

I've vaguely heard of American Indian in my family, but no details and I think I have some distant cousins who are in mixed marriages today. Fortunately racial difficulties are getting better, but we have a way to go.

It is true. Her offspring were found to have DNA from the Jefferson family. Some claim it was Jefferson's brother, others that it was Jefferson himself. These descendents want the right to be buried at Monticello.
