What has changed with the current negotiations? Well, Nokia has taken the position that their IPR is now much greater than the first time around.

Another difference is Spinco. IMO, the 2001 deal would not have gotten done without the threat of Spinco.

AND Qualcomm's fundamental cdma patents are coming to the end of their patent protection life. That is a matter that doesn't seem to garner much attention in those negotiations.
