I seem to recall that the justification for liberating Iraqis was the Bush Doctrine, which stated that we should not wait for threats to become imminent.

While there are some who would prefer to walk away from threats to their safety and assaults on others, doing so increases the risk of further risks. It is as inhumane to sentence people like the Iraqis were as it is to sentence dogs to be subjected to Michael Vick. Try as you might, I am unlikely to ever cease being empathetic to the needs of others and you are unlikely to quench my desire to help them.

Speaking as someone who was serving in the military during the time in question I can honestly say you don't have a clue as to what you're talking about. No one I knew ever thought that Saddam had his finger on the bomb button. That he might have been trying to obtain the essentials to build a bomb, most all of us believed.

Any soldier there from the start would laugh in your face if you were to suggest they were not indoctrinated with the idea of Saddam's threat to America being imminent.

Nonsense.

Some would feel they where indoctrinated, but I imagine even those wouldn't be likely to "laugh in my face" about it. And many would see no such indoctrination.

In any case the issue isn't what they perceive, but what the reality is. The president didn't just avoid using "imminent", he specifically said the threat wasn't imminent, but that we shouldn't wait until it is.
