Remove God, and the beliefs will be godless but will still be beliefs and function in the place of a religion. Yes, but those beliefs are your own opinions, not something you are commanded by some powerful outside entity to believe and pursue, let alone spread either by persuasion or force. You can modify them at will if you find something more constructive. And you can more easily respect those of others because all beliefs are individual human opinions, all subject to error.
