If you think the countries of Southeast Asia went communist from their people's free will, I have another think for you. Do you think the USSR was naive enough to leave such things to chance?

America interfering = evil. USSR interfering = no problem.

Same old, same old.

Where the US sees its interests colliding with the interests and will of the people of other countries, we have an unfortunate habit of propping up corrupt regimes and overthrowing regimes that enjoy popular support.

US non-involvement doesn't necessarily translate into the local people getting their popular will realized. Do you think the people of North Korea want Mr. Kim (and his dad) as their dictator? The people of Burma voted for Ang Su Kyi about ten years ago, are still under the dictatorship of their generals. Do you think the people of Indonesia wanted to be ruled by Sukarno and Suharto for the 50 years up to 2000? Suharto won "elections" throughout his leadership, and now that Indonesia has a democratically elected government they are trying to get back the riches which he and his children plundered the from country.

The best example of what happens when US involvement in foreign countries in Asia goes well is Korea. Our team, the South, has a rising economy and the people really ARE getting their will realized, each time they get a chance to vote in a new government. The other guy's team, the North, is hell on earth with a quality of life below what the criminals in US jails enjoy.
