Because the CSI link, like HT, will do the arbitration instead of the fsb so the only real difference between the two going forward is the AMB buffer. The proof is in the pudding anyway, Niagara's on-die Fb-Dimm controllers latency is 107ns which is 30n-50ns worse than Opteron using the same DDR2 memory.
