Competing mortgage vendors have advertised on TV, radio, newspapers, and the internet for many years. Ditech, Greelight, WaMu, Bank of America, many others besides CountryWide. A sample of most mortgage rates is published in many Sunday newspapers - from 8 to as many as 50+ different sources. There are several companies which will get you customized mortgage quotes from competing companies, the most well known being Lending Tree, which has advertised on TV with the slogan, "When bankers compete, you win". Some of these companies that do multiple quotes operate over the phone, so you don't need internet access. Also, there are the buildings on many streets call "banks" which people who will quote and help you with mortgage applications. Mortgage prices are easier to get than new car prices, and have been for many years. ******************************* Mozilo will need to retain some lawyers and some PR people. Politicians are looking for someone to blame.
