Re: purebreds. I have long held the opinion that dogs of mixed breed make far better family pets than purebreds do. IMO it has to do with temperament.

As an owner of a purebred I agree with you. I spend more money on my dogs then I did on my son for healthcare. And thats not any sickness they have but physicals, shots etc. Up until this dog I never took a dog to a vet except for rabies shots. jdn

I don't get it either especially now that they have all but ruined so many of the breeds. If I wanted another hunting dog instead of a pure bred lab I would be looking for a lab/golden or lab/Chesapeake mix.
