You call me a moron for saying such a thing. I ask you to find one good counter-example of a fatwa against bombing Tel Aviv pizza parlors.
Nadine, for the fatwa to work it needs to be issued before an act not after. But you forgot that fact.

I agree with most of what you have to say in that post Nadine about the modern relations between Pals and their supporters with Isreal. I have argued with the ever hopeful Michael that the Pal/Isreal conflict is not resolvable. It would be nice if some thing changed my view but I can't imagine anything short of a visit from Messiah untangling that knot.

If you identify with Israel I don't blame you for complaining about local/regional sheiks and self important scholars who are enemies of Israel. It would be nice if you could separate that issue from others but you tend to generalize it where it doesn't apply.

I don't agree with you that Muslims have historically been rotten to Jews. We've already discussed the historical dhimmi contracts which was far and away the most just, fair, and decent treatment any subculture ever recieved up to that time, including the treatment Jews gave to sub/other cultures. And far from what you attempted to portray as the equivalent modern threat by Islam to the rest of the world.

"The fight occurred when Jews wanted to have a country of their own, not live in Arab countries by Arab rules."

Not to mention that it wasn't some country on the moon but the same one where Pals were living at the time. Would you fight if I want to have your home? I think it would be nice if it could be resolved now without further fighting but that comment is silly.

Yes, when the Jews lived as degraded dhimmis there was no war. You are entirely correct about that. The fight occurred when Jews wanted to have a country of their own, not live in Arab countries by Arab rules.
which Jews are you talking about? The ones that migrated to Palestine (Europeans) or the ones that were living in the ME.

I write this article for the same reason I wrote my book: to tell the American people, and especially American Jews, that Jews from Islamic lands did not emigrate willingly to Israel; that, to force them to leave, Jews killed Jews; and that, to buy time to confiscate ever more Arab lands, Jews on numerous occasions rejected genuine peace initiatives from their Arab neighbors. I write about what the first prime minister of Israel called "cruel Zionism." I write about it because I was part of it.

Re:- <<I keep saying that the Muslim Mideast considers suicide bombing of Jews to be totally Islamic>>

You said "everybody" considers suicide bombing to be totally islamic.....now its the "Muslim Mideast". Which one is it?!?

Now that you've spurred my curiosity I've gone and googled your fatwa request of a counter example against suicide bombing and I got these on my first hit.....

en.wikipedia.org

"In January of 2006, one of Shia Islam's highest ranking marja clerics, Ayatollah al-Udhma Yousof al-Sanei also decreed a fatwa against suicide bombing, declaring it as a "terrorist act"."

Here's another one......

fatwa-online.com

"Shaykh al-Islaam (Ibn Taymiyyah) said:

"Because this person has killed himself and has not benefited Islaam. So if he kills himself along with ten, or a hundred, or two hundred other people, then Islaam will not benefit by that, since the people will not accept Islaam, contrary to the story of the boy. Rather it will probably just make the enemy more determined, and this action will provoke malice and bitterness in his heart to such an extent that he may seek to wreak havoc upon the Muslims.

This is what is found from the practice of the Jews with the people of Palestine so when one of the Palestinian blows himself up and kills six or seven people, then in retaliation they take sixty or more. So this does not produce any benefit for the Muslims, and does not benefit those amongst whose ranks explosives are detonated."

There's a bunch more that I quite frankly don't have the time or desire to plough through (Fatwas bore me!) but I'm sure you'll have some excuse to undermine each one.

Re:- <<The fight occurred when Jews wanted to have a country of their own, not live in Arab countries by Arab rules>>

If the Canadians came roaming across the border and took your nice Vermont home from you Nadine, what would you do?

This whole ME conflict is about LAND, no matter how much you try and kid yourself. Religion is a convenient subplot just as it was in Northern Ireland.

What a lame dodge. I keep saying that the Muslim Mideast considers suicide bombing of Jews to be totally Islamic.

Do you mean Israelis, or Jews? Can you produce some fatwas (if that's how proof is to be demonstrated) that argue for suicide bombing Jews (not Israelis, Jews) in Los Angeles, or anywhere outside of Israel?
