$127 billion! $425,000 for each New Orleans resident! Yes, it would be cheaper to pay each NO resident to move away forever and then blow up the levees so no one can ever rebuild and move back.

And thats $127 billion so far. How much more are we going to pour into the rathole?

Unbelievable amount of money! And yet, NO still has it's hand out for more. Perhaps before we spend ONE MORE CENT, we should have a through accounting, varified, of the money that has been spent, for what, and what is the result to date.....

$127 BILLION DOLLARS - down the RatHole...

Kudlow uses words like unbelievable, outrage, and
monstrous ....I would include obscene to that list.

Glad to see that at least someone out there is hearing the questions from here on PfP.....<g>

>>Perhaps all this money should've been directly deposited in the bank accounts of the 300,000 people living in New Orleans. All divvied up, that $127 billion would come to $425,000 per person!<<

The billions were spent all across the Gulf region, including Florida, Mississippi, Louisiana, and Texas. So dividing $127 billion by the population of New Orleans is just really lame demagoguery.

>>Right from the start, New Orleans should have been turned into a tax-free enterprise zone. No income taxes, no corporate taxes, no capital-gains taxes. The only tax would have been a sales tax paid on direct transactions.<<

It's a bad idea for the federal government to encourage massive rebuilding in New Orleans. The whole city will eventually be destroyed by hurricanes and land subsidence. Makes more sense to rebuild further inland at Baton Rouge, which is exactly what is happening.
