Peace and prosperity is a state that MOST people want. Given the right conditions it will happen, just as it did in Ireland.

It happened in Ireland because England and Ireland got tired of The Troubles and wanted them to stop.

When Egypt and Syria and Saudi Arabia get tired of The Great Cause/Excuse/Scapegoat of Palestine then there will be peace in the Middle East too.

But the Arab states love the conflict. It's waaaay too useful to give up. If they couldn't direct their masses to hate the Jews, they might have to explain why the economy doesn't work and there are no jobs.

The news out of Gaza is that worsening economic conditions are making Hamas' popularity plummet. However, considering that they now rule via a coup d'etat, and have been violently suppressing any signs of Fatah support, I don't see conditions changing for the better any time soon. They are neither going to recognize Israel and uphold previous agreements, nor hold new elections. They will work on getting the Euro weasels to pay them the Danegeld anyway, a much more promising line of work one must admit.
