This was explained on T/V today by a DEMOCRATIC guest. HAD Craig been Democratic he wouldnt have had to resign but since he was Republican he had no choice. Why, BECAUSE OF THE CONSTITUENCIES. Republicans are antiGay. Dems are ProGay. jdn

"I still don't understand why Larry Craig was forced to resign by the Republicans." For one thing he did plead guilty, but more importantly he acted guilty. Now the thing that has Republicans riled up isn't the misdemeanor its the fact its pretty obvious he swings both ways. I'm sure there are plenty of Conservatives of a like kinky mind but they all like to pretend they just do sex missionary style on Saturday nights with their betrothed. Otherwise the details are quite tawdry - I'm mean who cruises toilets for sex? Who knew? God knows what may have been going on in the stall next to me last time I was in a public restroom having a dump. Peering into stalls isn't exactly an admirable behavior. Then to top things off he makes ludicrous statements like "I am not gay and I have never been gay". Such buffoonery can't be excused because the Repubs are knee deep in it already.
