More like two years, high performance tires wear out quicker. Well my commute is shorter now, maybe the new ones will last 3.

My car wasn't incredibly expensive (maybe half of what a loaded Escalade costs). But 19 inch high performance run-flats are expensive. In any case my car and my tires aren't really the issue, I was just pointing out how tires can be expensive. As can many other things that people buy on a regular or semi-regular basis.

As for the insurance figure that wasn't my cost estimate, but that of the person I linked to (who apparently priced out what it would cost). And remember its for catastrophic/high deductible insurance. It has a $4500 deductible (and apparently not an annual deductible but a per incident deductible.)

As the post I quote mentions many people pay more than that much a month for phone (including cell phone) and high speed internet. I don't (I don't have a cell phone), but I pay almost that much for the combination of my land line, my internet connection and my TV service.

If you think these companies don't cherry pick when trying to reject folks with any type of pre-existing condition

Again your looking for some sort of discount plan, not insurance. Pre-existing conditions aren't something you insure against you already have them. Car insurance companies wouldn't pay for a "pre-existing condition" of me getting in to an accident before I sign up with them.
