For all the crowing about progress in Anbar province, no one is mentioning the wedge it drives between us and the Shiites. We are arming and allying with their enemies. If we can balance on the fence, it may work out. Syria and Saudi Arabia insist that the Sunnis are defended. But I doubt the Bush Administration has the finesse to do any real fence balancing.
