I think your companies experience with Vista is worse than the norm, but it is slower and more resource intensive, and that effects everyone (except those who run programs so undemanding as to not care much about performance, and even then their boot times are longer). On most programs it might not be anywhere close to ten to a hundred times slower, but 10% slower is still a negative point.

Also there is the normal problems with older drivers and applications not working, and the quirks of UAC and directory rights that get added by Vista. And also a number of the advanced features Vista was originally supposed to have never turned up (although if they did it maybe it would mean even more quirks and more resource demands)

I have it on my home PC because it came that way. If I built it myself I probably wouldn't have had Vista, or perhaps I'd have a dual boot system.
