ok, ggggggggggggggg ps. i still remember the women of the parish years , many years ago would go up to the Polish church to the pastor up there to confession. why, he didn't speak english,, many of polish never spoke english it was another community. their kids did of course and young parents. it takes a generation or so. well i used to serve funerals, if one during the week, as an altar boy, got you out of class room. and the pastor from the Polish church came down to assist on funeral masses requiring three priests for a high funeral mass. I never found him not understanding English, in fact he spoke it very well. but the ladies always seemed more relaxed going to the Polish church. ggg

Everywhere I drive here in OR, roads are being rebuilt, new bridges and overpasses are going up...next month the state of OR is sending kicker checks - tax rebates to everyone because we have a budget surplus...additonally, there is no question about voting fraud since our ballots are filled out at home and mailed back in...What a great state this has turned out to be! Your mantra that they don't speak foreign languages in ethnic communities in this country [on a different post] doesn't make sense. Even on the West coast, there are ethnic communities where English is barely spoken.....see East LA, Koreatown, LA, Chinatowns in SFO, Seattle and LA. And out East, it is very common to have mostly foreign languages spoken in ethnic enclaves. But forgetting illegal immigration and foreign languages for a moment, where are you getting this notion that OR is doing well fiscally? In fact, OR is experiencing a budget shortfall.......skip down to Table 4: cbpp.org Part of the problem has been caused by the fact that OR has suffered from a revenue shortfall in 2007-2008.......revenues were down 6.4%. It needs revenues.........the Portland school district almost when bankrupt in either 2008 or 2009. Are you sure you live in OR?
