Between the lines one can rightfully imo believe that Abbas wants to end this perpetual war.

Suppose he does. Could he hold even one other person to a deal?

There is no Palestine. No government. No structure. Just a collection of rival gangs.

Arafat liked it that way and so do today's Fatah and Hamas guys. Because it works so much better to play the helpless victim. Israel is responsible for Israeli acts, but there is always a way for Palestinians to disavow any inconvenient Palestinian acts - some other guy did it! I have no control!
