<<That article is from the New York Times, which is the most respected and influential newspaper in the US>> ... meaningless.

<<national trend among the educated upper and upper middle classes. Not just conservatives, but also liberals, and lefties, and greenies>>

... big deal, a shrinking crowd, in case you hadn't noticed, and one would think that is precisely how you ended up in mesopotamia.

<<cheap Chinese goods were acceptable when we thought they were safe, and now we don't>>

... export at new high, so apparently no effect.
... best you get something marked "made in USA" and soon, before it becomes a collector's item

<<Maybe a sign of maturation of US economy, like the European economies and the Japanese economy are maturing. Young people just starting out in life have fewer economic choices, older people with good jobs have more choices, and prefer good value for money even if the goods are more expensive>>

... you counting the 120k phantom jobs in the current report?

<<China can't even get it together in time for the Olympics>>

... NYT again?

<<when they'll be under global scrutiny>>

... you meant the rapt Australian attention showered on HU as opposed to the boo cheer that accosted BUSH?

Is it dark up there, somewhere?

LOLOLOL

BTW, so GUDD-la, as even better, YUDD, sweeter still, CHFUDD - a win win win triple hedge that worked like a charm against misery.

You amaze me. After you being so wrong on just about all issues we have had the pleasure to discuss for so very long, and yet, not a shadow of any trace of doubts in your mind.

Amazing.

No wonder you were so very gun ho for exotic tours in mesopotamia, to satisfy some blood lust or something just as bad.

Outrageous.

and yet, so enjoyable, and promising more in the days, ... years ahead.

Blessed.

how is the chinese turning this into a political game any different than the U.S. turning it into a political game???? E.g. $ vs. Yuan,,,vs. human rights..vs...invading chinese airspace???

Are you suggesting that the chinese don't have the right to a nice house with 24 hours a day hot water????

That they shouldn't be allowed to sell all manner of goods to eager willing buyers in the U.S. who have mortgaged their homes for cheap Thomas Choo-Choos, and $1.99 dog food?

??
