Are you suggesting that the chinese don't have the right to a nice house with 24 hours a day hot water????

Interesting question. How does someone have a "right" to a nice house etc.?

If you have the money to buy a house, it's your private property and you have a right to enjoy your private property without interference from others, more or less.

And you have a right to be free from force or fraud.

It seems to me that you are arguing for a right to commit fraud.

I would disagree.

As for $1.99 dog food, if the problem dog food was only found in the cheapest of the cheap, China wouldn't have this PR problem.

Fact is, the poisoned dog food was mostly high-end stuff, bought by middle-class, upper-middle-class, and upper-class.

Another fact is that countries that really deplore fraud and try to eliminate it are more prosperous than countries which accept fraud and corruption as normal.

My suggestion is that eliminating fraud and corruption creates prosperity.

Similarly, fully integrating women in the workplace leads to prosperity (Latin America, take note.)

Similarly, giving everybody an equal opportunity leads to prosperity (India, take note.)

Take a look at Northern Europe if you reject American values -- they are extremely prosperous and have a very low tolerance of fraud and corruption, as well as giving everybody, including women, equal opportunity at prosperity.

This model works.
