Leading would give you greater "target differentiation".

That doesn't help if you can't read the target.

The reason I said leading is not a solution is that with the font we had until recently and with IE6 or IE7 Largest, I got double spacing by having one or more long-name Subjects, between Subjects but not, for example, between line 1 and line 2 of Qualcomm's long-name Subject. When I have that double spacing, adding leading would display fewer items on a screen.
