HK/MG will be critical to increasing frequency, while holding (or reducing) power level.

Barc is already OK for power. And frequency seems to be a lost cause in AMD's 65 nm process. So I think the importance of 45 nm is to reduce die size and increase yield (and gross margin). Because as it is now, I don't see how AMD will have much supply of barc from fab 36, if it has to steal wafer starts from Brisbane.

Doug, you don't know for sure yet if Intel found a way around the yield issues that are spoiling the party for the rest of the industry or that (less chance but possible) they simply decided to use way more fab capacity to make darn sure they retained the lead.
