...Anyone else care to explain the recent rise in the stock price? While symbol change may be providing small stock price boost, I think JAVA price gains mostly from perception of improved fundamentals. Keep in mind, Sun is just now into positive earnings per share territory. With earnings/revenue currently such a miniscule number, tiny boost in profit margin would give large percentage drop in P/E, were price not to rise correspondingly. Its called leverage. As profit margin increases further (I think it will), leverage should boost stock price inordinately Best, Mark

Here is my estimated breakdown of the components of recent price gain: a) Ticker symbol change: 0% b) Announcement of intention to reverse split: 10% c) Product cycle refresh combined with cost cuts: 38% d) Random market irrationality: 15% e) Sun technical conference: 29% f) Other: 8% Here's a question for you: why would you tend to believe more strongly in the effect of the ticker symbol change as the price approaches $10? Why not $7.00? Why not $20.00? In fact, why would you think the ticker symbol change had anything to do with it at all? --QS
