As for Greenspan, one thing that still bothers me about him isn't his praise of Clinton (who didn't do much anyway), but his inability to forsee the "subprime" problems of today. This after he dropped interest rates like crazy, helping to boost real estate and give Bush a pumped-up economy.

"Clinton who didn't do much anyway"? One doesn't have the longest peacetime expansion since WW II by magic even if you do believe in creationism.

As for Greenspan not forseeing the subprime problem, how could he? The subprime problem was caused mostly by poor lending practices and not the liquidity in the market. I was in real estate and could never have predicted that some lenders would turn into con men and lower mortgage standards to very dangerous levels. No, few could have predicted such an event but then, it fits in nicely with the years of corruption and dishonesty we have seen under the Bush administration.
