Wonder if the device handles CDMA data calls as well?

The femtocells actually use a broadband connection as their upstream communication link so it would make more sense for the customer to use WiFi than for a DO version.

That does seem pretty expensive. Sounds like a good idea, though-- it can be a major inconvenience when your in-home cell coverage isn't reliable.

I love the idea. However, the pricing by Sprint makes no sense. Sprint offers free nights and weekends starting at 7pm which covers the vast majority of time people are actually at home from work. The savings that Sprint will see from the lower capex costs associated with adding base stations as well as lower backhaul costs should be more than enough to make up for any subsidy associated with the device. I would also expect a drop in churn as people no longer worry about home coverage.

The financial benefits of these devices seem huge for the wireless operators so I have trouble understanding why they would want to inhibit their spread by charging $15 a month for the service.
