I've tried to prepare myself mentally to be proactive if need be, like Todd Beamer was. I hope if it comes to that I can summon the courage.

My secret weapon is a medical device, a CPAP, which I have to carry on because of its fragility. It gets fingered at security EVERY time, but they always let it through. I've thought about how I would use it.

CPAP stands for Continuous Positive Airway Pressure. It DOES NOT pump oxygen into your lungs as I've often heard on TV. It just keeps your soft palate from collapsing while you sleep, and is effective against sleep apnea.

I think everybody should think about how they will prevent the next hijacking.

Another thing I do is evaluate fellow passengers as they pass by. It's pretty easy to eliminate most people so you can concentrate on a few.

"I'd come in swinging my purse"

My mother would be proud of you. She often threatened to wield her purse as a weapon under duress. Once she cleaned about ten pounds of coins from it.
