Happy Yom Kippur. I hope things went well for those of you who celebrated the day.

Shalom,

We don't burn books or limit speech, so the wellspring of ideas may continue to be refreshed, lest we slip into a solipsistic apathy and fail to progress in our story.

If Ahmedinijad wants to celebrate the expression of free ideas, I suggest he start with Tehran University, which he has closed repeatedly and arrested the student leaders who protested the mullahs' regime.

Did Columbia ever invite Pieter Botha to speak? Of course not; the apartheid regime of South Africa was an international pariah, and inviting Botha would only have strengthened it.

But Ahmedinijad, they don't mind strengthening him.
